WSBMWR Club Ride 2008
“Washington Passes, and Other High Places”
Where do Washington State BMW Riders like to ride most? The mountains, of course!
In the interest of increasing participation in the annual Club Ride this year, we are going to keep it simple and fun, riding over most of our scenic Mountain Passes, and visiting an assortment of “Other High Places” just to keep things interesting. Scoring will be based on accumulated ALTITUDE of the targets reached and photographed. All participants who accumulate at least 100,000 feet (including bonus points) will receive a Club Ride Certificate of Completion. The Top Five finishers will also share in cash prizes: the more feet, the more bucks! (We will also recognize those who accumulate at least 50,000 points with a Certificate of Participation, and listing in The Shaft.)
The Rules:
- The contest starts immediately. Ride when and where you want, at your own pace.
- Photo evidence of reaching each target is required. Photos must be taken this year.
- The photo must include your bike (or you in riding gear) and an identifying landmark such as a pass summit marker (name and/or elevation sign). If the pass is not marked (or is too dangerous to allow stopping for a photo), a photo of a nearby sign approaching the pass will suffice (e.g. “Blewett Pass 3 mi.”).
- For “Other High Places”, photograph your bike with a distinguishing landmark or sign, as appropriate (e.g., the Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center). Note that three “Other” places have bonus points (they’re “not so high”, or are harder to reach).
- Use common sense: don’t stop in the middle of the Astoria Bridge for a photo! A picture from each side will do (shows you went over it).
- Each photo should be marked with the Target I.D. (Name/number) and the Date.
- Also submit the attached Target Logging Form (or similar) showing I.D., Altitude, Date and Image Number for each target claimed. Add up your Altitude Points.
- All entries are due to the Club Ride Coordinators by the December club meeting.
Now that you’re Motivated, Make a Plan, and Enjoy the Ride! (And don’t forget your camera!)
